Halloween at Kew 2026: dates, entry times and family planning
What’s On · October 2026
Halloween at Kew is a separately ticketed outdoor light trail, running from 16 October to 1 November 2026. The useful decision is which evening, entry gate and session suit your group, rather than simply whether to visit Kew. Plan it as the main evening activity and leave time for the journey home.
Official event details checked 5 October 2026. This is a researched planning guide, not a review of the trail. Ticket availability, weather decisions and operational arrangements require a fresh check before publication and travel.
Dates and the change in start times
From 16–24 October, the advertised event hours are 6pm–10pm. From 25 October–1 November, they are 4pm–10pm. Last admission is strictly 8.30pm. Your booking is for an entry slot; do not treat the closing time as an arrival time.
Kew describes daylight sessions up to 6pm, twilight from 6pm–7.30pm and moonlight after 7.30pm, with the scare level increasing later. Early daylight entry is therefore a choice in the later part of the run, when the event starts at 4pm. Look at the specific date and available slots rather than expecting the same options every evening.
Ticket cost and what is separate
At the checked date, Kew lists non-member adult tickets at £19.50 off peak and £24 peak. Child, family and member options are also listed. Confirm the full cost for your group through the booking link on Kew’s official event page, including any extras you choose.
A normal daytime garden ticket does not include the Halloween trail. A Halloween ticket does not automatically include a daytime visit either; Kew lists a combined Garden Entry + Halloween option. Food and drink are extra. Make the choice before buying rather than assuming admission can be upgraded at the gate.
Choose the gate with the journey
Victoria Gate suits arrival by Tube or bus; Elizabeth Gate is the option Kew recommends for National Rail via Kew Bridge. Brentford Gate is reserved for visitors with the corresponding pre-paid parking booking. If driving, parking must be booked in advance. Match the journey to the gate printed on your ticket.
Check the full return journey before choosing a late slot, especially with children. For access needs, consult the transport and access sections in Kew’s FAQ: a station nearby does not establish a step-free route from your accommodation to the trail.
Families, weather and access
Kew estimates a trail of about 1.5km, taking roughly 1–1.5 hours with stops. It is outdoors without covered areas, with varying terrain and gradients that may be more difficult when wet. Wear weather-appropriate shoes and clothing, and contact Kew about specific access requirements.
Kew calls the event family friendly, but the later sessions are described as scarier. Use your child’s response to darkness, startling scenes and a later bedtime to choose a slot; a general family label cannot decide suitability for every child. An indoor daytime alternative is our Natural History Museum family plan.
Before booking and on the day
Check the selected date, gate, ticket type and change or cancellation terms before paying. The FAQ distinguishes reschedulable tickets from standard tickets; do not assume that a change of plan or ordinary rain qualifies for a refund. Recheck official notices on the day and keep the booking confirmation ready.
For the rest of your visit, use our flexible London itinerary or compare free museum days. Keep a ticketed outdoor evening separate from a long day of attractions if your group needs a slower pace.
